路透华盛顿2月19日 - 五角大楼周三表示，正在指示军方负责人起草一份清单，列出可能从2026财年预算中减支总计约500亿美元的方案，以便转用于总统特朗普的国防优先事项。
此次审查可能会为美国国防部长赫格塞思(Pete Hegseth)落实在亚太地区加大投资、优先确保美墨边境安全等改革的目标创造条件。
马斯克领导的政府缩编团队已经开始在五角大楼开展工作，文职雇员也在为裁员做准备。
履行国防部副部长职责的Robert Salesses表示，军方将在研究拜登政府制定的预算后，制定一份潜在减支清单。
Salesses说："目标是节约拜登政府2026财年预算的 8%，总额约 500 亿美元，然后将其用于与特朗普的优先事项相一致的项目。"
赫格塞思曾公开表示，五角大楼的重点是美国边境安全和中国构成的威胁。他说，美国不能再"主要关注欧洲的安全"。
长期以来，各政治派别的领导人一直批评国防部的浪费和低效。但民主党人和公务员工会表示，马斯克缺乏重组国防部的专业知识，其团队的努力有可能暴露机密项目。(完)
