Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) is launching a new developer conference called LlamaCon, set for April 29, as the company rides the surge in popularity of its Llama AI models.
In 2024 alone, Meta's Llama model was downloaded over 650 million times, and Meta AI hit 600 million daily users by year-end. That explosive growth led Mark Zuckerberg's company to introduce LlamaCon, aimed at developers working with open-source AI tools. Meta plans to use LlamaCon to showcase its latest AI-powered tools, giving developers new ways to build apps and products.
The company says it's doubling down on open-source AI innovation as interest in its models continues to climb. Alongside the LlamaCon announcement, Meta also confirmed the return of its annual Meta Connect conference, scheduled for September 17-18. The event will feature Meta Horizon updates and insights into the future of extended reality (XR).
Last year, Meta introduced the Meta Quest 3S virtual reality headset, and expectations are high for what's next in the company's AI and XR roadmap.
