St Barbara (ASX:SBM) has installed and commissioned an MMD Sizer crusher at its Simberi operation in Papua New Guinea, ahead of schedule and under budget, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.
The crusher, which arrived in February 2024, exceeded its commissioning targets and has been handed over to operations, with over 6,000 tonnes crushed in the first two shifts, the filing said.
The company said its SAG mill performance also improved, with throughput surpassing targets following a January shutdown and operational reset, the filing added.
St Barbara expects the commissioning of the Sizer crusher and enhanced mill performance to improve operations in the second half of the fiscal year.
Two excavators have arrived at Simberi, with one in operation and the second ready for handover after last Monday's assembly, the company said.
