U.S. Natural Gas Futures Rise as Cold Shots Lift Demand -- Market Talk

1518 ET - U.S. natural gas futures rise sharply following the holiday weekend as frigid weather across the U.S. boosts heating demand for residential and commercial users. "Weather model runs today confirmed the significant cold forecast for this week but also added a significant amount of warming in a recovery to be seen next week," Gelber & Associates says in a note. Production was largely steady over the weekend while LNG exports held at record levels, despite the cold, the firm adds. Natural gas for March delivery settles up 7.6% at $4.007/mmBtu.
