日本首相石破茂称，特朗普上台后日本制铁大大转变了对美国钢铁的思路，现在对交易意向的考虑是投资而不是收购。

　　“我们需要采取必要的应对措施，确保对双方都有利，”石破茂在议会上表示。

　　石破茂不认为日方的利润线正在让步；政府将给予必要的支持，以便企业继续拓展。

　　他表示，美国前总统拜登下令阻止收购的行为是不公平的政治干预；日本制铁将持有多少股票将由两家公司共同讨论；特朗普希望确保美国钢铁仍是美国公司，管理层仍是美国人。

　　石破茂称：如果我们从一开始就说不能接受，谈判就会破裂，所以我别无选择。这可能看起来像是日本制铁一方的让步，因为美国钢铁不会成为其全资附属公司；但不要觉得这是在让步。
