Nikkei Rises 0.1%, Led by Financial Stocks -- Market Talk

0658 GMT - Japanese stocks ended higher following stronger-than-expected quarterly economic growth data. The Nikkei Stock Average rose 0.1% to 39174.25. Financial stocks led gains as hopes grew for the Bank of Japan's further rate increases. Dai-ichi Life Holdings gained 7.9% and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group advanced 2.0%. The 10-year Japanese government bond yield rose 3.5 basis points to 1.385%. Investors are focusing on U.S. trade policy. USD/JPY was at 151.74, down from 152.30 late Friday in New York.
