China Shenhua Energy Logs 8.5% Decline in January Coal Output

China Shenhua Energy (HKG:1088, SHA:601088) recorded an 8.5% year-over-year decrease in commercial coal production volume to 24.9 million tons in January from 27.2 million tons a year prior, a Monday bourse filing said.

Coal sales in the reporting month reached 30.2 million tons, down 21.6% from 38.5 million tons in the year-ago period.

The power company's gross power generation declined by 26.3% to around 16.56 billion kilowatt-hours in January from 22.46 billion kilowatt-hours a year ago.

For the reporting month, sales of coal chemicals, Polyethylene and Polypropylene, rose by 8.5% and 3.8%, respectively.
