Tencent (HKG:0700) is testing the integration of DeepSeek on Weixin to power its social networking, e-payments, and ride-hailing applets, the South China Morning Post reported Sunday.

The app will allow users in beta testing mode to click an "AI Search" option on the search bar to access the full version of the app "for free," using the DeepSeek R1 model, the report said, citing a Tencent representative.

The functionality is not available on WeChat, the international version of Weixin, the report said.
