TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, stated that he has discussed with companies the demand to issue holiday allowance (THR) regulations for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. The discussion seeks to identify an appropriate solution for providing THR to ojol drivers.
However, according to Yassierli, the discussion has not yet resulted in a decision. Employers will only provide the finalization of the issuance of the THR regulation in the next few days.
"We will wait for the finalization with the employers (from companies) in the next few days," said Yassierli at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Yassierli stated that before online ojek drivers carried out demonstrations, the Ministry of Manpower had met thrice with representatives of the online ojek. During these meetings, the online ojek drivers promised to conduct peaceful demonstrations.
The Ministry of Manpower has also met with employers twice. From the meetings with employers, Yassierli claimed that employers already understand the THR regulations. "They are trying to find the best formula," he said.
Nevertheless, Yassierli stated that there is no agreement yet on the THR calculation formula for online ojek drivers. The government is still awaiting finalization from the employers.
Hundreds of online drivers staged a rally in front of the Ministry of Manpower office in Jakarta on Monday, February 17, 2025. The demonstration brought several demands related to the welfare of online drivers, such as online ojek drivers, online taxi drivers and couriers.
Online drivers have asked the Ministry of Manpower to play a role in ensuring that companies pay THR to them. "We continue to demand the promise of the Ministry of Manpower to create THR regulations for online ojek, online taxis, and couriers," said Head of the Indonesian Transportation Workers Union (SPAI) Lily Pujiati on Monday, February 17, 2025.
