Odaily星球日报讯 美国政府效率部（DOGE）于 X 发文表示： “-美国财政部在 2024 财年处理了 1.16 亿张纸质支票； -在 2023 财年，由于支票退回或过期，250 亿美元的退税被延迟或丢失； -财政部维护一个物理锁箱网络来收集税务支票（IRS）、护照支票（国务院）等。维护这个锁箱网络每张支票的成本约为 2.40 美元； -删除纸质支票每年至少可节省 7.5 亿美元。”
