European Stocks Seen Opening Slightly Higher, FTSE 100 Slightly Lower -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
21 Feb

0745 GMT - European stocks are expected to open slightly higher, with Germany's DAX up 0.1% and France's CAC 40 up 0.3%, according to IG. Chinese stocks rose after Alibaba earnings buoyed sentiment toward Chinese tech stocks. The mood was less upbeat on U.S. stock markets, however, after weak guidance from retailer Walmart. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 is expected to open down 0.1%. U.K. retailers will be in focus after data showed retail sales for January were stronger than expected. Focus will also be on purchasing managers' data for France, Germany, the eurozone and the U.K. (jessica.fleetham@wsj.com)
