US judge throws out Aussie start-up’s Google antitrust case

Tech entrepreneur Matt Berriman has lost his lengthy legal battle against Google over its role in killing his advertising tech start-up Unlockd, after a Californian judge dismissed his claims that the tech giant had engaged in anticompetitive behaviour.

Unlockd went into administration in 2018 after Google banned its apps from its platforms, cutting off its revenue source, just before it planned to float on the ASX. It had been backed by well-known investors including Lachlan Murdoch, Peter Gammell and Catch of the Day founders Hezi and Gabby Leibovich.
