The Federal Trade Commission said Thursday it launched an effort to solicit public commentary to better understand how technology platforms "deny or degrade" access to services based on speech or affiliations.
The agency, now controlled by the administration of President Donald Trump, alleged the platforms "employ opaque or unpredictable internal procedures to restrict users' access to services" in what it suggests may constitute "anti-competitive conduct" or "potentially unlawful conduct."
The agency said it "encourages members of the public" to comment on relevant matters that may have affected them or others by May 21.
