U.S. Natural Gas Futures Post Third Straight Weekly Gain -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
22 Feb

1458 ET - U.S. natural gas futures post a 14% weekly gain as an Arctic blast lifted heating demand across much of the country, while deliveries to LNG export terminals hit new highs above 16 billion cubic feet a day. Cheniere Energy's announcement of a first cargo from its Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion was "big news for LNG," Gelber &Associates says in a note. While milder temperatures next week are expected to lower natural gas demand, and production is seen picking up after freeze-offs, prices are expected to find support in the growing storage deficit given this winter's hefty withdrawals. The Nymex front month settles up 2% at $4.234/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
