丹尼斯在声明中表示：“由于全美范围内的鸡蛋短缺和鸡蛋价格上涨，我们的一些餐厅将需要暂时对每份含有鸡蛋的餐食加收附加费。由于鸡蛋短缺对各个地区的不同影响，附加费将根据市场情况和餐厅情况而定。”
丹尼斯表示，由于情况“不稳定”，它不会透露具体哪些地区或门店会收取附加费。
禽流感已经导致数百万只母鸡死亡，进而导致全美各地杂货店和餐馆面临鸡蛋短缺。由于供应不足，鸡蛋批发价格创下新高。
美国农业部上周五表示，因受禽流感影响，鸡蛋批发价格“稳步上涨，且基数较高”，供应“非常清淡，短期内改善的可能性很小”。
上周，白鸡蛋的价格涨至每打8.07美元，上涨33美分，涨幅4.7%。整体库存下降2%，其中散养鸡蛋库存下降3.5%，营养强化鸡蛋库存下降12.5%。
丹尼斯并不是唯一一家将成本上涨转嫁给消费者的餐厅。本月早些时候，Waffle House决定对每个鸡蛋征收50美分的附加费。
与此同时，Trader Joe 's和沃尔玛(WMT.US)等连锁杂货店都对顾客购买的鸡蛋数量进行了限制。
