Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) saw its 10,000th supercharger come online as the automaker continues to push its infrastructure in preparation for the launch of more battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.
The company today put its 1,873rd supercharging station into operation, bringing the number of superchargers to more than 10,000, it announced today on Weibo.
That's one year and 10 months after the first Li Auto supercharging station was completed on April 20, 2023, the company said.
Li Auto's superchargers include 2C, 4C, and 5C versions, with 5,597 currently being 2C versions, which have a peak charging power of 250 kW and can charge a Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) from 10 percent to 80 percent in 25 minutes.
The 4C versions, of which there are 3,116, have a peak charging power of 360 kW and can charge a Li Mega from 10 percent to 80 percent in 15 minutes.
The 5C charging piles, with 1,289 posts and a peak charging power of 520 kW, can charge a Li Mega from 10 percent to 80 percent in 12 minutes.
In March 2024, Li Auto said it was aiming to have more than 2,000 supercharging stations by the end of the 2024 year. However, that target was not reached.
In 2025, Li Auto would have more than 5,000 supercharging stations online, covering 90 percent of main highway routes, and 90 percent of core urban areas in tier 4 and more developed cities, the company said on March 8 last year.
The additional charging stations are in preparation for the launch of more BEVs after the Li Mega battery electric vehicle (BEV).
Li Auto announced earlier this week that its first all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) is named Li i8 and released the first official images to warm up the model.
Li Auto's goal is to have more than 2,500 self-operated supercharging stations with more than 15,000 superchargers built nationwide by the time the Li i8 is launched, Li Xiang, the company's founder, chairman and CEO, said on February 26.
This will allow Li Auto's BEV users to stop having charging anxiety, he said.
Li Auto has not yet announced a launch date for the Li i8.
