Nippon Steel is due to begin discussions with the US Department of Commerce to revive its acquisition bid for US Steel (X), Reuters reported Tuesday, citing Nippon President Tadashi Imai.
The merger agreement, which was blocked under former President Joe Biden, will be the basis for the upcoming talks, the news outlet cited Imai as saying.
Imai reportedly said financial and capital investments are linked to the proposed deal and the company will work to address President Donald Trump's concerns.
US Steel, Nippon Steel, and the US Commerce Department did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
