Nasdaq Down 100 Points; Domino's Pizza Posts Weak Earnings

U.S. stocks traded mixed toward the end of trading, with the Nasdaq Composite falling around 100 points on Monday.

The Dow traded up 0.42% to 43,611.72 while the NASDAQ fell 0.53% to 19,421.11. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.01% to 6,013.05.

Leading and Lagging SectorsFinancials shares jumped by 1% on Monday.

In trading on Thursday, utilities shares fell by 0.6%.

Top Headline

Domino's Pizza Inc. (NASDAQ:DPZ) posted weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter FY24 earnings results.

The company reported fourth-quarter sales growth of 2.9% year-on-year to $1.44 billion, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $1.48 billion. EPS of $4.89 missed the analyst consensus estimate of $4.92.

Equities Trading UP                       

  • AtlasClear Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:ATCH) shares shot up 191% to $6.84 after the company announced second-quarter results.
  • Shares of Santech Holdings Limited (NASDAQ:STEC)got a boost, surging 202% to $1.8995.
  • Connexa Sports Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:YYAI) shares were also up, gaining 97% to $1.26 after the company announced it signed a multi-channel-network (MCN) deal to create content for TikTok in the MENA region.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Target Hospitality Corp. (NASDAQ:TH) shares dropped 46% to $5.06 after the company announced it lost a key government contract and withdrew its FY25 guidance.
  • Shares of Nikola Corporation (NASDAQ:NKLA) were down 34% to $0.2527. The company last week announced it received a delisting letter from the Nasdaq. The company has also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware, seeking to auction assets while maintaining limited operations through March 2025.
  • Volato Group, Inc. (NYSE:SOAR) was down, falling 31% to $2.5966. Volato announced that it has begun bitcoin mining operations, marking an early but significant step in its broader exploration of aviation-integrated cryptocurrency mining.

CommoditiesIn commodity news, oil traded up 0.6% to $70.83 while gold traded up 0.4% at $2,963.80.

Silver traded down 1% to $32.67 on Monday, while copper fell 0.9% to $4.5170.

Euro zone

European shares closed mixed today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 fell 0.08%, Germany's DAX 40 gained 0.62% and France's CAC 40 fell 0.78%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.47%, while London's FTSE 100 fell 0.01%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with China's Shanghai Composite Index falling 0.18%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dipping 0.58% and India's BSE Sensex falling 1.14%.

Economics

  • The Dallas Fed’s Texas manufacturing activity index fell 22 points to a reading of -8.3 in February compared to a reading of 14.1 in January.
  • The Chicago Fed National Activity Index declined to -0.03 in January versus a revised reading of 0.18 in December.
