Elanco Animal Health, MedGene Partner to Commercialize Bovine Vaccine for Bird Flu

Elanco Animal Health (ELAN) said Tuesday it was partnering with MedGene to help commercialize the company's vaccine to help prevent avian influenza in dairy cattle.

Medgene previously met all of the US Department of Agriculture's requirements for its bovine vaccine platform technology, which is now in the final stages of review ahead of an expected conditional license approval, the companies said.

The prior USDA authorization also allowed Medgene to accelerate development of its H5N1 vaccine as well as adapting its existing vaccine manufacturing to protect the US dairy herd, the companies said.

Elanco shares were falling over 7% in early Tuesday trading after the company reported Q4 earnings that missed Wall Street expectations and also guided 2025 results below analyst consensus calls.
