Hyatt Hotels (H) said Tuesday it plans to launch Hyatt Select, a new upper-midscale transient brand in the Americas.
Hyatt Select will complement Hyatt Studios, the company's extended-stay offering that opened its first property in Mobile, Alabama, last week, the company said, adding that both brands belong to Hyatt's Essentials portfolio.
Hyatt Select targets shorter stays in secondary and tertiary markets, offering flexible 70 to 200 key prototypes, a lean operating model, and easy conversions, the company said.
Shares of Hyatt fell 1.5% in recent trading.
