路透首尔2月28日 - 路透看到的飞行员之间的卫星短信显示，飞行员上周在空中时才首次得知中国在澳洲附近进行海军实弹演习的消息，他们收到的信息迫使一些飞行员改变了航线。
这一事件凸显出航空公司越来越需要在短时间内对地缘政治干扰和军事危险做出反应，例如去年以色列和伊朗之间的导弹和无人机袭击。
据西方防务分析人士称，这也表明中国军队首次在澳洲和新西兰之间的塔斯曼海举行演习，并通过在印度洋-太平洋地区（包括台湾附近）表现得更加强硬而加剧紧张局势。
中国称已就此次演习向澳洲和新西兰当局发出了充分警告。
据澳洲官员称，悉尼时间上周五上午9点58分（周四2258 GMT），Virgin Australia IPO-VIR.AX的一名飞行员在飞行员用于飞机间通信的121.5兆赫紧急无线电频道上接收到了中国海军的广播，这是航司飞机首次听到了实弹演习的消息。
据Airservices Australia称，这名飞行员向空中交通管制员报告了这一广播，后者将信息转给了澳洲军方。
空中交通管制部门的副首席执行官Peter Curran在本周的议会听证会上说：“在那个阶段，我们还不知道这是一个潜在的骗局还是真实的。”
