俄罗斯央行自 2023 年 8 月以来已开始进行数字货币的测试，进行了一项有限的试点计划。该计划涉及 12 家银行和约 600 名员工，测试了钱包功能、转账和自动支付等。
企业也探索了使用数字卢布进行交易，最初计划在 2025 年 7 月前实现更广泛的采用。
然而，启动计划已被推迟，且未公布新的时间表，俄罗斯政府决定延长试点阶段，以便进一步完善技术方面的内容，并让银行评估经济模型。
俄罗斯央行行长 Elvira Nabiullina 据称确认了这一延期，强调额外的时间将有助于金融机构采用适合其客户的模型。她还强调，推迟启动是为了确保数字卢布能惠及所有利益相关者。
