QBE names Shah to oversee wholesale markets in Asia

Feb 27 - (The Insurer) - QBE has appointed Ronak Shah to the newly created role of CEO, wholesale markets for the Asia region.

In his new role, effective March 1, Shah will be responsible for leading the strategic development and expansion of QBE’s wholesale reinsurance offerings across both existing and new markets including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, India and mainland China.

Shah will retain his current role as CEO of QBE Singapore until a permanent successor is appointed.

Based in Singapore, he will continue to report to Rob Kosova, CEO of Asia at QBE.

QBE's wholesale markets business will focus on delivering tailored offerings to in-market insurers across complex and specialty lines, including financial lines, liability, construction and engineering, marine, property, terrorism and political violence.

QBE said it will also explore high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, cyber risk and emerging liability classes.
