Webjet Group (ASX:WJL) will pay a proposed total penalty of AU$9 million under an agreement it reached with the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission to resolve court proceedings against its unit Webjet Marketing, subject to orders by the Federal Court, according to a Friday Australian bourse filing.
The proceedings related to matters related to the issue of booking confirmations and the historical disclosure of fees in social media posts, email marketing as well as on the Webjet website and mobile application, the filing said.
Webjet Marketing voluntarily implemented improvements to its fee disclosures after being advised on the matter by the regulator in 2023, it added.
The firm will also contribute AU$100,000 to the regulator's costs. It will also publish a corrective notice for a period of 60 days as well as review and implement a consumer law compliance program.
Its shares fell 2% in recent trading on Friday.
