Toyota Motor (TM) reported Thursday total worldwide sales of 846,744 vehicles in January, up 1.9% from a year earlier.
Toyota brand sales were up 0.1% year-over-year to 785,632 vehicles, Daihatsu 40% to 52,343 vehicles and Hino were down 5.6% to 8,769 vehicles, the company added.
Total production was up 12.4% year-over-year in January to 885,346 vehicles, according to the company.
Production for the Toyota brand was up 5.6% year-over-year to 781,729 vehicles, Daihatsu grew 151.6% to 92,434 vehicles, and Hino by 2.6% to 11,183 vehicles.
Shares of Toyota Motor were up nearly 2% in recent trading.
