TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President's Special Advisor for Economic Affairs, Bambang Brodjonegoro, spoke out about President Prabowo Subianto's announcement that the capital of Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) comes from budget savings.
In his speech at Danantara's inauguration, Prabowo claimed to have secured more than Rp300 trillion from inefficiency, corruption, and improper spending. He said that these funds will be allocated for investment in Danantara.
However, according to Bambang, Prabowo in his speech only emphasized the efficiency gains from budget usage. Meanwhile, Bambang stated that Danantara's capital would come from existing state-owned enterprises (SOEs).
"Actually, Danantara already has capital from the existing SOEs and current activities," he said when met after the Digital Economic Forum 2025 event held in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
As an SOE superholding, Bambang said, Danantara's capital is sourced from the combined capital of the companies. Currently, seven SOEs are slated for management by Danantara.
These seven SOEs are PT Pertamina (Persero), Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND ID), PT PLN (Persero), PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BRI, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI, and PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. Reportedly, all SOEs are scheduled to merge with Danantara by March.
"If, for example, the President says there will be investments made by Danantara, it does not mean providing capital to Danantara," said Bambang.
However, he added that Danantara is expected to make investments that will drive economic growth and support Prabowo's development agenda.
"Danantara's capital is what currently exists in SOE. This is like creating a kind of superholding of SOE. So, when combined, its capital is from Pertamina, Telkom, Bank Mandiri, and all of them," he said.
President Prabowo Subianto launched BPI Danantara yesterday, February 24, 2025, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
"In the first 100 days of the government I lead, we have managed to secure more than Rp300 trillion, almost US$20 billion, in the form of state savings," he said in his speech, which was monitored through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube broadcast on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The hundreds of billions, he continued, were previously lost due to inefficiency, corruption, and improper spending.
"Now, the funds will be allocated to be managed by Danantara Indonesia, to be invested in 20 or more national projects as part of industrialization and downstreaming," Prabowo said.
