Xpel shares were down 14% to $34.60 after the company reported fourth-quarter earnings that missed expectations.
The company, which makes protective films and coatings, said it had quarterly earnings of $8.9 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with $12 million, or 43 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for earnings of $11.4 million, or 41 cents a share.
Revenue for the quarter was $107.5 million, compared to last year's $105.5 million and the $107 million analysts were expecting.
The company said it had a foreign exchange loss of $1.2 million do to the strengthening of the U.S. dollar. The was offset be a 9.4% increase in service revenue, and a 33% increase in window film revenue.
For the first quarter, Xpel is expecting revenue of $97 million to $99 million, compared with the $104 million analysts are expecting.
