Blackstone Taps McKinsey Veteran Rodney Zemmel as Global Head of Portfolio Operations

Blackstone named Rodney Zemmel as its global head of portfolio operations, whose areas of focus include data science, artificial-intelligence transformation, cybersecurity and asset management.

Zemmel joins the private equity firm from McKinsey, where he spent nearly thirty years and most recently served as the leader of both McKinsey Digital and the consulting giant's AI transformation initiatives.

In the role, Zemmel will partner with company chief executives and Blackstone's investment teams, and help companies take advantage of the opportunities created by advances in AI, the firm added.

Blackstone's portfolio currently has 250 companies with $226 billion in annual revenue.
