Amcor (ASX:AMC) and Berry Global said that their shareholders approved the proposed acquisition of Berry by Amcor via an all-stock deal at their respective shareholder meetings, the companies said in a joint statement Wednesday.
Over 71% of Amcor's outstanding shares were present or represented by proxy, and more than 99% of these shares were voted in favor of the proposed merger, the release noted.
More than 83% of Berry's outstanding shares were present or represented by proxy, and over 98% of these shares were voted in favor of the merger.
The proposed deal is expected to close in mid-2025, subject to closing conditions.
The packaging firm's shares fell almost 1% in early trading on Thursday.
