- Production of the 2025 G6 will be very limited in the first month because of the supply chain, and Xpeng is trying to address the issue, its CEO said.
- The updated G6 is a model developed for the global market and will be offered in left- and right-hand drive versions.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will officially launch the updated G6 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) next week, after giving the model its debut last week.
He Xiaopeng, the company's chairman and CEO, announced the timing on Weibo today, but didn't mention a specific launch date.
"The all-new Xpeng G6 has started arriving in stores this past weekend, it's been a hit and the official launch is coming next week," He wrote on Weibo.
He emphasized that the first month of production for the 2025 G6 will be very limited because of the supply chain, and he's currently working on addressing the issue.
Xpeng debuted the 2025 G6 at an event held on February 28 and began accepting pre-orders with unannounced pricing information.
The updated G6 is a model developed for the global market and will be offered in left- and right-hand drive versions, the company said last week.
Xpeng's international presence will expand to more than 60 countries and regions this year, and the all-new G6 will be available in those countries and regions in the future, it said last week.
The Xpeng G6 was initially launched in China on June 29, 2023, and the SUV was at the time instrumental in the company's reversal of weak sales from the previous year.
The SUV is currently priced from RMB 199,900 ($27,450) to RMB 276,900 in China.
The 2025 G6 brings 81 upgrades to the exterior, interior and features, and updates 34 percent of its tier 1 assembly parts, the company said last week.
It measures 4,758 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,650 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. That's slightly longer than its predecessor's 4,753 mm length.
The updated G6 is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and comes standard with a battery pack that supports 5C charging. C refers to the charging multiplier, and 5C theoretically means it can be fully charged in one-fifth of an hour.
The new G6 entered a regulatory catalog from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) last December 10, and its filing made no mention of LiDAR.
