The broad market exchange-traded fund SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) was up 0.5% and the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) advanced 0.7% in Monday's premarket activity as investors focus on earnings reports by big retail names this week.
US stock futures were also higher, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.5%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures advancing 0.3%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.7% before the start of regular trading.
The final S&P Global US manufacturing PMI for February will be released at 9:45 am ET.
The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index for February, and construction spending for January bulletin, post at 10 am ET.
St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem speaks at 11:35 am ET.
In premarket activity, bitcoin was down by 1.3% and the cryptocurrency fund ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) was more than 10% higher.

Health Care
The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) advanced 0.3%. The Vanguard Health Care Index Fund (VHT) was down 0.1% while the iShares US Healthcare ETF (IYH) was flat. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) advanced 0.1%.
Fortrea Holdings (FTRE) stock was down more than 25% premarket after the company reported lower-than-expected Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue, and posted downbeat 2025 sales guidance.

Technology
Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) gained 0.6%, and the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) was 0.7% higher, while the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) was flat. Among semiconductor ETFs, SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) was inactive, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose by 1.2%.
AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) shares were up more than 7% in recent Monday premarket activity after the company and Vodafone (VOD) said they have agreed to create a jointly owned satellite service business for mobile network operators in Europe. Vodafone stock was up 0.8%.
Consumer
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was down 0.02%, while the Vanguard Consumer Staples Fund (VDC) was up 0.4%. The iShares US Consumer Staples ETF (IYK) was inactive, and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) gained 0.7%. The VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was inactive, while the SPDR S&P Retail ETF (XRT) was flat.
Nomad Foods (NOMD) shares were up more than 4% pre-bell after the company posted higher Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue that also beat FactSet analyst estimates.
Financial
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) advanced 0.5%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 1.6%, while its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 1.6% lower.
ING Groep (ING) shares were up more than 4% pre-bell Monday after the company said it reached an agreement with Reggeborgh Groep to acquire an additional 17.6% stake in specialist wealth manager Van Lanschot Kempen.
Industrial
Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI) advanced 0.6%, while the Vanguard Industrials Index Fund (VIS) was down 0.3%. The iShares US Industrials ETF (IYJ) was inactive.
Lockheed Martin (LMT) stock was up 1.3% before the opening bell after the company said Sunday it is partnering with Nokia (NOK) and Verizon (VZ) to incorporate Nokia's 5G technology into its 5G.MIL Hybrid Base Station. Nokia shares were 5.6% higher, while Verizon was 0.3% lower.
Energy
The iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) was down 0.1%, while the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) was up by 0.2%.
VAALCO Energy (EGY) stock was up 1.3% before Monday's opening bell after the company said it acquired a 70% interest in and the operatorship of the CI-705 oil exploration block located in offshore Cote D'Ivoire for a $3 million investment.
Commodities
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil gained 0.3% to reach $69.99 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Natural gas advanced 0.9% to $3.87 per 1 million British Thermal Units. United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 0.1%, while the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) rose 1.1%.
Gold futures for April advanced 1.4% to $2,888.10 an ounce on the Comex, while silver futures rose 2.2% to $32.20 an ounce. SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) were up 0.8%, and the iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was 1.7% higher.
