--ON Semiconductor has expressed interest in taking over its smaller competitor Allegro Microsystems, according to a report from Bloomberg that cites unnamed sources.

--The Phoenix, Ariz., company, which does business as Onsemi, has been working with advisers in recent months to pursue Allegro, the report said.

--Other suitors may emerge for Allegro, which hasn't indicated if it would be open to a potential sale, according to the report.

--A representative for Onsemi declined Bloomberg's request to comment, while a representative for Allegro didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
