Wizz Air said passenger numbers rose in February, and that revenue trends were better than expected for the first quarter of the fiscal year.

The London-listed budget airline said passengers last month came to 4.6 million, a 5.1% on-year increase.

The increase in passengers comes as the Eastern Europe focused company's seating capacity rose on year by 3% to 5 million seats.

The airline's load factor--a measure of how full its planes are--stood at 91.8% last month compared with 90% a year ago.

On a rolling 12-month basis, Wizz Air flew 63.1 million passengers, representing a 2.6% on-year rise, it said.
