Dow Jones
04 Mar

1150 ET - Eggs could be a traffic driver for Costco as the wholesaler is offering lower prices than many grocery stores, Oppenheimer analysts say. Shoppers may flock to Costco and as egg prices across supermarkets soar due to a shortage related to bird flu. Costco's egg prices are also jumping -- analysts say the price for 2 dozen increased by about $1.70 over the past month. But its prices are still lower than many competitors and analysts are seeing sold-out egg displays at Costco as members appear undeterred from the price hikes. Costco reports 2Q earnings on Thursday; shares are up 7.3% over the past three months. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
