BlackBerry (BB.TO) traded 0.9% lower at last look Tuesday in NYSE pre-market trading even after saying its QNX OS for Safety has been deployed by FERNRIDE, which provides scalable automation solutions for port and yard logistics.

The premarket losses add to the 6.8% Blackberry lost on the NYSE yesterday. It also lost 6.7% on the TSX.

Tuesday's statement from Blackberry noted FERNRIDE has developed an autonomous terminal tractor solution to help address challenges such as labor shortages, tight delivery schedules and the need for 24/7 operations.

With the QNX software, FERNRIDE has been accelerating its efforts to gain compliance with the European Machinery Directive and EU Declaration of Conformity, the statement said.

"We are proud to collaborate with FERNRIDE to deliver its cutting-edge autonomous solution, especially at a time when the logistics industry is urgently seeking ways to reduce costs while not compromising on meeting safety goals," said Grant Courville, senior vice president of products and strategy at QNX.

"By leveraging the capabilities of safety certified software and engineering services, FERNRIDE is helping to drive the future of autonomy and empowering their customers to achieve next-level efficiency and safety," Courville added.

QNX said its software is also used by leading original equipment manufacturers including BMW, Bosch, Geely, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen.
