PricewaterhouseCoopers moves to larger 23,000-square-foot office in North Hills.
PwC's Raleigh employee count grew from under 100 to 400.
New office features hybrid work model and recreational amenities.
One of the Big Four accounting firms is filling new office space in North Hills as the company's local headcount continues to grow.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has moved into a 23,000-square-foot office at 4114 Center at North Hills St., part of Kane Realty's remake of the Main District. It’s a significantly larger space than the firm's former 15,000-square-foot space in the nearby Captrust tower along Six Forks Road.
Over the past decade, PwC, based in London, has grown its Raleigh employee headcount from under 100 to close to 400 employees, according to the Raleigh office's new managing partner, Garret Tripp. The company was running out of room at its old office and needed to find something bigger, Tripp said.
“We were lucky to be able to find the space we needed across the street,” Tripp said.
The firm considered other areas outside of North Hills for its move, including Downtown Raleigh.
“Part of the attraction when we were able to look at the space we're in now was we had a clean slate to be able to design it and customize it to fit our ways of working and be able to implement the technology that we wanted within the office,” Tripp said.
Employees at PwC work a hybrid schedule where they are expected to be in the office or with a client 50 percent of the time, according to Tripp. The company has an AI-enabled app that employees use to reserve their workspaces. Each workspace is equipped with a 42-inch curved monitor and cameras for virtual meetings. The office space also has a number of amenities, including an outdoor balcony, a custom Carolina Hurricanes bubble hockey game and a gaming station.
“It's designed in a way to hopefully let people feel welcome, let them feel connected, let them feel energized, and yet have the ability to get away and race your buddy in Mario Kart if you want to do a little brain break in between the day,” Tripp said.
The Raleigh office provides assurance and consulting services for clients, many of whom are located in North Carolina. The two largest sectors that PwC serves are technology companies and life sciences companies, although the firm also helps clients in banking and consumer markets.
Tripp credited the Raleigh office's employee growth as a byproduct of being in the Triangle market.
“I think a lot of it comes with the growth in the area itself. Raleigh is a fast-growing city, and I think our ability to be able to serve and match that growth in the area is reflected by our growth and headcount,” Tripp said.
Tripp declined to disclose the Raleigh office’s 2024 revenue. He said the firm is constantly recruiting new employees.
“My biggest goal for the year is to be proud about the new space and have that as an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our clients and with our community,” Tripp said.
