BlueScope Steel (ASX:BSL) has been appointed as a steelmaking adviser to the administrators of the collapsed Whyalla Steelworks group, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
BlueScope will provide "in-kind technical and operational support in an advisory capacity," but noted that it is "not committing any capital or other corporate support to the administration process," per the filing. It has also not made a decision in relation to any sale process or purchase of company assets.
The South Australian government placed Whyalla Steelworks into administration last February. The company produces 75% of the country's structural steel.
