内媒报道，叮咚买菜(DDL.US) 去年第三季时曾披露进军沙特的决定，原计划今年3月前讣当地开设首个前置仓。惟消息指出，当得知美团的小象超市正考虑进军沙特时，叮咚CEO梁昌霖在2月初举行的内部会议上宣布暂时放弃沙特市场，及时止蚀，转而聚焦国内业务。
据悉，叮咚管理层认为竞争侧很难战胜拥有“外卖流量支持+无限子弹”的小象超市，市场侧叮咚早期希望在沙特复制中国经验，但当地人习惯以家庭为单位在线下采购生鲜商品，前置仓模式下卖得更多的是食品百货和各类长尾商品，这不是叮咚的优势。
