据华尔街日报等多家媒体报道，高盛正准备进行一年一度的裁员，此轮裁员的重点是副总裁级别。高盛CEO所罗门（David Solomon）已向高管们表示，与总体招聘规模相比，公司近年来招聘了太多的副总裁。裁员的目的是提高公司效率，所罗门将此作为优先事项。预计将裁员约3%至5%，截至2024年，高盛的总员工数为46500人。
此次裁员是高盛年度裁员的一部分，但与往年通常在下半年进行不同，今年的裁员可能会在春季进行。所罗门在内部会议中强调，VP层级的冗余已影响决策效率，需通过裁员“为高绩效人才腾出空间”高盛发言人则对外表示，此举是“年度人才管理流程的一部分”，符合行业常规操作。
从行业角度来看，高盛的裁员行为是当前华尔街金融机构裁员的一个缩影。全球最大的资产管理公司贝莱德也于当地时间11日告知员工，将裁减500名员工，约占其员工总数的3%。摩根士丹利将裁减其全球员工的约2%。
高盛的裁员计划正式掀开序幕，对于市场而言，高盛的转型成效或将定义未来十年华尔街的竞争格局。
