Sky Metals (ASX:SKY) excavated and crushed over 60 tonnes of bulk samples in preparation for pilot-scale metallurgical test work at its Tallebung tin project in New South Wales, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The sampling sites were selected to target variations of tin deposit grades and traverse zones across the footprint of the defined extent of mineralization at the project.

Tungsten and silver byproduct recoveries will be evaluated in the pilot-scale plant, as the firm seeks to optimize its metallurgical flowsheet. The tin concentrate produced will be used for marketing and end-user engagement.

It is planning to conduct a reverse circulation drilling program in March, targeting growth in the mineral resource estimate.

The firm's shares jumped 8% in recent trading on Wednesday.
