RBC Lays Off Some Employees Related to HSBC Acquisition, Reuters Reports

-- Royal Bank of Canada laid off some employees due changes to its business segments following the 13.5 billion Canadian dollars ($9.4 billion) acquisition last year of HSBC's Canadian assets, Reuters reports, citing two unnamed people with knowledge of the jobs cuts.

-- Some of the layoffs were from the bank's technology and operations teams and began earlier in the week, Reuters says.

-- The report says it was unclear how many employees were affected or if layoffs would continue, according to Reuters.
