Tesla shares extend tumble as China shipments halve in February

Tesla suffered another big drop in its China wholesales last month as BYD pulled further ahead in the world’s biggest electric-vehicle market. Its shares plunged more than 6 per cent in early trade in New York.

The US carmaker led by Elon Musk saw shipments plunge 49 per cent from a year earlier to 30,688 vehicles, according to preliminary data that China’s Passenger Car Association released late Tuesday.
