1741 GMT - Spanish banks may face some temporary headwinds in the short-term due to competition in lending and deposits, Deutsche Bank says in a research note. This comes after a period of outperformance driven by resilient net interest income, a more stable interest-rate outlook and a more benign environment supporting activity in the country, analyst Alfredo Alonso and associate Atul Hanamante write. "Despite encouraging 4Q24 results and a broadly positive 2025 outlook, the somewhat weaker 1H25 could potentially drive investors to take a more cautious stance," they say. DB cut its ratings on Sabadell and Unicaja to hold from buy and lowers CaixaBank to sell from hold. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
