Walt Disney (DIS) is laying off some 200 employees at its ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment Networks units, The Wall Street Journal reported late Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The company is consolidating ABC news magazine shows "20/20" and "Nightline" into a single unit, resulting in layoffs, the unnamed sources told the news outlet. ABC will also eliminate the 538 news site, according to the report.
The Disney Entertainment unit will see staffing cuts in program planning and scheduling, the Journal reported.
Disney did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
