Amcor (ASX:AMC) and Berry Global Group said Tuesday in a joint statement that the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 (HSR Act) relating to their planned merger has expired, according to a Wednesday disclosure with the US Securities and Exchange Commission filed on the Australian bourse.
The merger, initially agreed upon on November 2024, will see Amcor's unit, Aurora Spirit, merge with Berry, making it a wholly-owned Amcor unit, the filing said.
The expiration of the HSR Act waiting period brings the deal closer to completion. The companies expect the merger to be finalized by mid-2025, the filing added.
Shares of AMC fell past 3% in recent Wednesday trade.
