0831 GMT - Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index closed 0.8% lower at 23600.31, erasing earlier gains. The benchmark index has faced rising profit-taking pressure lately, Daiwa Capital Markets analysts said in a note. While market volatility may increase over the next month, downside risks should be buoyed by southbound capital inflows from Chinese investors, offsetting potential selling by global investors, Daiwa added. Among decliners, Lenovo Group fell 7.0%, Alibaba Health Information Technology lost 6.4% and Sands China was 4.2% lower. Meanwhile, BYD rose 1.4%, Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing gained 1.25% and Alibaba Group was 0.9% higher. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
