Southern Cross Gold Consolidated (ASX:SX2) began the permitting process for an underground exploration tunnel at the Sunday Creek gold-antimony project in Victoria, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The firm expects to submit a formal application to the Victorian Resources regulator in the third quarter. Once permitted, construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 and will take around six to 12 months to complete.
The proposed exploration tunnel is planned to be around 150 meters deep and 600 meters long, enabling underground drilling in 2026.
Environmental surveys are currently underway to minimize impacts on the local environment and community.
