Zeotech (ASX:ZEO) said phase one concrete pilot trials with Holcim (Australia) demonstrated that the AusPozz high reactivity metakaolin product can be used to decarbonize concrete while improving strength and reducing shrinkage, compared with control samples, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filings.
The phase one proof-of-concept trials were completed at a dedicated concrete testing center, the filing said.
The pilot trials evaluated several different mix designs using AusPozzTM at a 25% binder replacement compared to the control samples. The control samples contained standard general-purpose ordinary Portland cement and a blend using supplementary cementitious material, Fly Ash.
Compared to the control samples, the results showed an increase in strength gain over seven, 28, and 56 days from samples produced using the AusPozz product. It also reduced shrinkage by 22% at 21 days and 29% at 56 days.
More samples of AusPozz were delivered to Holcim in February for phase two trials in the lab and the field.
The firm's shares rose 10% on market close on Wednesday.
