Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) said Tuesday it was awarded a contract to deliver the new Australian Submarine Supplier Qualification pilot program, with an initial value of AU$9.6 million ($6 million).
The two-year program aims to accelerate the identification and qualification of Australian suppliers and products into the US submarine industrial base.
The contract includes an option for extension based on performance, according to the company.
Huntington said the contract will be managed by its Australian operations.
Shares of Huntington Ingalls Industries were down nearly 2% in recent trading.
