Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said Tuesday it has introduced new developer tools to make it easier to build "agents," or systems that can handle complex tasks independently.
The tools include Responses API, which combines the usability of Chat Completions API with the tool-based features of the Assistants API to enable advanced reasoning and supports built-in tools like web search, file search, and computer use, the company said.
OpenAI has also launched an open-source framework Agents SDK designed for running multi-agent workflows, such as agents, handoffs, safety checks, and performance tracking, it added.
